After-School Astronomy Program
High School students in grades 9-12.
Hands-on learning about the universe.
Students conducted their own explorations of the night sky by using “MicroObservatory” – on the computer.
Utilize the telescope by the NASA-Smithsonian Universe Education Forum of Harvard University.
Faculty Members from MIT and Harvard will participate in this program.

Our Vision For Life is FAITH - FAMILY - FUTURE.
We are looking for volunteers that will represent Roxbury Presbyterian Church Social Impact Center (RPCSIC) personally and professionally in accordance with the mission and goals of RPCSIC under the direction of the Site Coordinator. He/she will support staff in implementing program activities for children, which provide for spirtual, social and academic and emotional growth. He/she will adhere to the policies and regulations set forth by RPCSIC and the Departement of Early Education and Care (EEC). Safety and the overallwelfare of the children, families and communities os of primary importance.
-Individuals should like children and have the ability to work with and understand the needs of children. Have a commitment to working with children from a variety of backgrounds.
-Must be a positive role model and be able to maintain a motivational, energetic attitude while conducting activities.
-First Aid/CPR certification (training can be provided by RPC).

Kinetic City Program
This is a web-based after school science program for kids in grades 3-5. We will meet twice a week during the school year, excluding school vacations and holidays.
This is produced by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and funded by the National Science Foundation.
Kids will participate in this innovative Science Program and can expect:

LIFE BASICS Evaluation Intern
10-15 hours per week
The LIFE BASICS Evaluation intern will assist staff with the overall development and implementation of academic and social justice enrichment programming. This individual will specifically work in developing evaluation protocols, such as creating outcome measurements and data collection tools. The intern will have the opportunity to conduct field research through quantitative analysis of test scores, and grades as well as qualitative analysis of interviews and focus groups with students, parents, teachers, and staff. Experience with SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) or SASS evaluation tools preferred.

LIFE CHOICES (Choosing Healthy Options by Integrating Career and Education Skills) Program Intern
This Program runs Saturdays 9:30am-12:30pm and weekdays in our open access technology labs and classrooms. The program serves high school students from Boston Public Schools. The CHOICES intern will assist the staff with the overall development and implementation of programs for the CHOICES MCAS Prep Program. This individual will specifically work the staff in developing evaluation protocols, outcome measurements, and data collection tools in order to ascertain the impact of the program on students’ exam scores as well as students’ post high school career and education choices.

ScienceQuest Program

Technology Education Volunteer
Job Description:
Would you like to help our adult students to be successful? In this position, you will provide classroom assistance in our programs for helping adults to improve their basic computer literacy, achieve their GEDs, and prepare for the workforce by learning how to do research or look for jobs using the Internet and how to develop and type letters or resumes. You will also have the opportunity to help create learning materials that are interesting and bring fun to the classroom. Your work may involve both assisting an instructor and providing one-on-one guidance to students in our programs, who range from young adults to seniors
Preferred Qualities:
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of computer skills such as using the Internet, email, and Microsoft Word
- Interest in teaching adults with different levels of experience and cultural backgrounds
- Willingness to be creative with a good sense of humor

Technology Training Institute
The ULEM Technology Center has grown tremendously since it was established in 1997. Originating as a national model project funded through a partnership between the National Urban League, Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), the City of Boston and the Computer Technology Center Network (CTCNet) to becoming a state-of-the-art Timothy Smith Technology Center. ULEM’s Technology Training Institute provides training within all of our services offered to the public and conducts independent classes like our Web Development course. We deliver! Through our expanded technology access within our PowerUp Technology Center and Urban League Training Lab we can offer core competency and specialized competency training to our constituency. The Urban League is also a certified Microsoft Office Specialist testing site.

Youth Get Connected Program
After-School Program for girls ages 13-16. This program meets two days a week from 3-6pm.
A reality-based curriculum designed to help with academic self-awareness, social skill-building and career exploration.
Will teach girls how to use technology effectively in creating media projects-which would inform and educate them about issues that directly Impact their health, self-esteem, education opportunities and economic viability.
