About Our Center
|
|
The John A. Shelburne Community Center is a non-profit recreational, educational, and cultural enrichment facility located in the heart of historic Roxbury. The Shelburne Center has been a safe haven for a large number of ethnic, cultural, and economically diverse youths and adults for over twenty-five years. The Center is named after Mr. John A. Shelburne, a native of Roxbury who dedicated 30 years of social service to his community. He established the foundation and principles that govern the center today: respect, hard work, commitment, dedication and the support of the community. The Shelburne Center has and will continue to create and implement innovative programs that will enhance opportunities for youths and adults, to exercise leadership, develop confidence, self-esteem, as well as develop the necessary skills to become a productive self-sufficient individual in life. The program activities offered by the Timothy Smith Center provides the people that we serve a vehicle by which they can access technology to enhance the quality of life for the present and their future endeavors. |
