This series of courses was developed for openairboston.net (Boston's
wireless initiative) through the efforts of the Timothy Smith Network,
Roxbury Multi-Service Center and Dorchester Bay EDC.
- Internet Safety for Parents
- Through a discussion and exercises, parents will learn tips and tricks
for keeping themselves and their children safe while using the Internet.
- Internet Safety for Seniors (Coming Soon)
- Better Living Through the Internet
- Through a series of real-life scenarios participants will learn how
to use the internet to improve the quality of their lives.
- Breaking the Code - Through
a series of exercises, demonstrations and discussion, the mystery surrounding
instant messaging, chat rooms and social networking sites will be uncovered
for parents.
Microsoft Unlimited Potential Community Learning Curriculum
Through
a grant from Microsoft all TS Centers have access to the Microsoft Unlimited
Potential Community Learning Curriculum. The eight courses in the curriculum
are available in a variety of languages:
- Computer Fundamentals
- Digital Media Fundamentals
- Internet and World Wide Web Fundamentals
- Web Design Fundamentals
- Word Processing Fundamentals (MS Word)
- Presentation Fundamentals (PowerPoint)
- Database Fundamentals (Access)
- Spreadsheet fundamentals (Excel)
