Three classes have been designed to help residents use the Internet safely
and effectively.
- Internet Safety for Parents - Understand all aspects
of Internet Safety using age-appropriate materials from i-SAFE.
- Breaking the Code - Through a discussion and exercises,
parents will become familiar with the Internet tools that can be used
to keep in touch with family and friends and which are widely used by
their teenaged children: social networking sites, chat rooms, instant
messaging. The emphasis is using these on-line resources safely.
- Better Living through the Internet - Through a series
of real-life scenarios participants in Better Living Through the Internet
will learn how to use the Internet to improve the quality of their lives.
Examples of these scenarios include: determining if one is qualified
for food stamps or other services, planning a trip to a new destination
on the MBTA, finding money savings coupons and much more. At the end
of this class, participants will be familiar with several web sites
that contain information, products, and services relative to their everyday
needs.
